  Went for lunch. The fit out is great and the balcony has a great view and cool breeze. The food however was just awful and flavourless. We ordered the confit duck salad which sounded great - it was hideous and almost inedible. The cold gelatinous duck was tasteless and grey and the salad dressing was bland and ordinary. How can you go so wrong with a salad!!!The ambience is good but the menu is lazy and the food terrible...we all decided we would never go back. There are too many other good pubs with fabulous food in Paddington to waste time with this one. What a shame...

  We have been coming go the Royal for years so it was one of my go-to pubs for a mothers day venue. They also advertised that all Mums receive a glass of sparkling wine. Nice. Except, it never arrived. The food was OK. Schnitzel was a good pub standard and fries, above average. Burgers also looked good. Pasta was a fail - gluggy and greasy. Service was a little slow for a room that didn't seem that busy. We still have a soft spot for this place. Just don't advertise something and not deliver it.

  A nice bar with some great food and a good beer list. There's plenty of room for sitting upstairs and having dinner.

  Dish was served cold. The (kangaroo) meat was dry and the dish size was comparable to an appetizer. The replacement burger was good though. If you come here with a group, expect some orders to magically vanish, and be prepared to grind your teeth on the salad. Pro tip: your own cutlery, or just go somewhere else

  A multilevel venue to suit any needs. A great selection of wines and beers. Excellent food.
